About
SupernaLuna is my most recent and current Minecraft server community that I run. I currently am self hosting it from home on an extra computer I bought, which I am also using as my home server. If you want to know about the technical details check out the page on my home server. I started Supernaluna in April of 2022 with the help of Moni the co-owner, who handles the community management and recruitment, while I mainly work on the backend. We are hosting multiple Minecraft servers to choose from and are always trying to expand, so if it interests you to join, the best way is to head to our Discord server.
I decided I wanted to start Minecraft server hosting after being a server hopper for some time and never finding a place I liked. Either the owner was too restrictive, or incompetent, or they had plugins that changed the game too much, I could never find the right server for me. Coming from a background in Technical Minecraft, I disliked how Paper and other similar server types would alter the games mechanics for the sake of performance, and decided to use a Fabric server jar for the SMP server. Doing this really does give SupernaLuna a different experience from any other SMP out there. When people think of a server that runs on mods, they generally expect to need to install mods on their client, but that is not the case here. SupernaLuna is fully vanilla client compatible, and even allows joining with new clients on servers running on older versions.
SupernaLuna is now looking to expand into less standard types of servers. Recently a poll was held in the Discord Server to see what people would be interested in, and it looks like they voted for an Evolution server. This is a concept made popular by Grian, where the server starts off in a very early version of the game as far as Betas, and gradually updates over time to experience all the old quirks and bugs of the game.
