My Cloud Systems
While my Cloud setup has shrunk since I got my home server, I still have my free servers on Oracle. I host a few of my services I have exposed to the internet on there. The biggest being my VPN server which I use sometimes on public wifi, or when I am testing something on my network from outside the firewall.
Before I got my home server, I had my setup entirely on the Cloud. I used a Psychz bare metal dedicated server (e3-1230 v2 4 Core) to do Minecraft servers, and I had services on Oracle Cloud using the always free tier, I still have most of them since they are still useful. However I stopped paying for the Psychz server.
I’m really grateful for Oracle’s great deal in the always free tier which gave me a huge playground for learning how to use Linux and getting experience with networking between them. I am in the process of getting the foundations certification for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. I definitely would not be as knowledgeable as I am now without the access they gave me. Also for anyone it interests, Oracle basically gives out public IPs like candy. I have multiple cloud machines with static public IPs for free.
